Pointillism Landscape
As a class we discussed features of landscapes in many geographic locations. After looking through an assortment of photographs, the students selected geographic features they wanted to include in their own drawing. Students focused on perspective and how an objects appearance would change based on its distance from the horizon line. Objects in the foreground should be large and detailed. As things travel back in space, they become smaller and lose detail. After completing their landscape drawing the students added color with oil pastels. The pastels were applied in a technique called pointillism; a style made famous by George Seurat and Vincent van Gogh.
