Yesterday was the sidewalk chalk art contest. I am so proud of the artists who participated; you did a fantastic job! If you were not in school today to see the finished product, please check out the photos in the gallery. Great work everyone!

Here’s a link to the instructions for making your own Rug out of old T-shirts. Any student who brings in the final product will receive up to 15 points extra credit. Good luck!
Congratulations to the following students whose artwork was considered for purchase by St. Joseph Livingston Hospital:
Honorable mention: Sophia H. (Mrs. Peck's class) Alana B. 4th hour Winners (Artwork will be on display in St. Joe’s permanent collection) Julia S. 4th hour Sophia H. (Mrs. Peck's class) If you enjoyed making your tessellation in class, but were looking to make a more interesting pattern, you may find these tutorials helpful. I have only shown you a few methods; there are many different shapes that tessellate and many different methods of making a tessellation. You can find other great ideas on the internet. Good luck and have fun! This video starts with a triangle instead of a square. Your tessellation will create a pattern that radiates out from the center (like a pizza cut into slices). In order to be successful with this type of tessellation, you must be VERY precise when measuring and cutting. The video below shows the "nibble and slide method". Two more hours until Thanksgiving Break! I hope everyone enjoys their time off. If you are in need of extra credit or just feeling helpful, I am looking for donations for our next project. Please bring in any clothespins you don't need, we will be drying our next project on a clothesline. Thanks!
I found a great recipe for papier-mâché clay. This form of papier-mâché allows you to sculpt fine detail on the final layer of your mask. I have made a couple batches already, but I am finding it takes hours for me to rip up enough tiny toilet paper pieces to make a cup for each of you. I need some help; that means extra credit for you! I am offering 3-6 extra credit points to any student who brings me 1 or 2 rolls of torn up toilet paper (the pieces must be very tiny, about the size of a pea). Have fun! If you are interested in making the papier-mâché clay on your own here is the recipe and a video that demonstrates the process. Paper-Mache Clay Recipe 1 to 2 rolls of cheap toilet paper ¾ cup of white school glue ¾ drywall compound 1/2 cup flour It's been a busy week for me. I just finished grading all 167 of your "My Life as a Movie" Projects. They turned out awesome!!! It was nice to get a glimpse in to your life outside of school. Go to the Ore Creek Online Art Gallery page to browse through movie posters from each class. Be sure to check the showcase at school (across from the library windows) for more amazing artwork. Sorry, I can't put every students work in the online gallery.
I'm looking forward to the DIA field trip tomorrow with team 8C. Hope to see some of you there. Thank you to Noah V. 3rd hour and Alana B. 6th hour. They both brought in bags of tennis balls, now I almost have all of my stools covered. Yay, no more scratching and squeaking!!!
I need about 12 more, so there's still an opportunity to earn extra credit by bringing in tennis balls. Many students responded to the first extra credit opportunity. I gave at least partial credit to everyone who commented thus far. For those of you who commented, but do not see your answer posted, I did not approve your comment because you gave your first and last name. You will still receive partial credit; I just don't want your last name out on the internet for everyone to see! In the future please only write your First name, last initial, and hour so I can keep your identity safe!
Winners: 1st hour: Nate H. 2nd hour: Conference Hour no students 3rd hour: Caitlin F. 4th hour: Jordan B. 5th hour: John D. 6th hour: Alyse Thanks for keeping on track in class by checking my website! |
